Re-post from Caribbean Events website . . .

Back for its 13th year, the Caribbean Food and Wine Festival beckons gourmands and epicures to the pristine, white-sand beaches and turquoise waters of the Turks and Caicos Islands on October 11th to 15th to sample fine cuisine and exquisite wine and cocktail pairings.

In its thirteen-year run, Turks and Caicos Islands’ Festival has elevated the Caribbean dining experience by bringing together the finest chefs and vintners from around the globe to curate a gourmet experience that satisfies even the most eclectic and refined palates. From Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand awardees and James Beard-recognized chefs to one of the best wine producers from Napa Valley co-owned by EGOT-winning artist John Legend in last year’s roster, the festival spares no expense and effort to create a truly memorable weekend of delectable tastings and imbibing for visiting foodies.

The five-day festival holds various events at the many luxury resorts and their signature restaurants across the islands. Individually a draw in and of itself, these thoughtfully-designed resorts and restaurants provide upscale dining spaces that seamlessly blend in with and enhance Turks and Caicos’ unspoiled natural features. This philosophy that honors the islands’ natural assets is not just reserved to design, however, as dishes that highlight the nation’s bounty also feature heavily in the restaurants’ menus. Dishes of freshly caught grilled spiny lobster, red snapper, and mahi-mahi deliver flavor and freshness with every bite.

Lobster Season is here in Turks & Caicos !!!

The season started August 1st and runs through to the end of March 2024.  The lobsters are collected by free-divers (using a hook-stick) and the best fishing spot is in the East Harbor and Conch Reserve in South Caicos, aka “The Lobster Capital of the Turks & Caicos”.

More than 50% of the population on the island of South Caicos is employed in the fishing industry and the majority of lobsters caught are exported to foreign markets.  The season closes at the end of March to prevent overfishing and allow the lobsters to reproduce.

The lobsters caught in TCI are the Caribbean Spiny Lobster or Panulirus argus.  Some favorite island dishes are lobster pasta (Mango Reef and Baci Restaurant); lobster mac; boiled lobster (7 minutes in boiling water with lemon slices), cracked lobster (Crackpot kitchen) and lobster benedict (Bay Bistro).

We encourage you to try many different lobster dishes while visiting us in the Turks & Caicos Islands this winter.
