As the end of school nears, it is time to get ready for some outdoor living with the family.  What better time than now to get your home and yard ‘Summer Ready.’  With almost 360 days of sunshine a year we are always hosting visits from friends and family.  They love our outdoor living spaces but sometimes we need to freshen it up a little.

Power wash the deck and concrete areas, do not forget pathways leading into your garden or to the waterfront. Consider installing artificial turf to add a touch of green to open and often unused spaces.  It is minimal maintenance and does not require watering.

Check your patio furniture.  The sun and sand can fade and wear outdoor furniture over time.  Check the condition of your furniture and make necessary repairs, change the cushion covers or add bright pattern accent pillows to freshen seating areas.  Patio ground-stand umbrellas and shade sails are perfect when looking to make simple and colorful changes to an outdoor space, they are inexpensive and relatively easy to assemble, offering great UV protection.

We spend more time dining under the stars in July and August than any other time of year.  By adding solar garden walkway lights or draping hanging lights around the pergola keeps the vibe going well into the night.

Tackling large projects requires plenty of planning and often days or weeks of construction.  So, begin with smaller refreshing upgrades of the simple things first.  Enjoy your outdoor space and spend lazy afternoons relaxing in the hammock and summer nights under those amazing stars.
