South Caicos News – American Airlines (AA) has announced that they will provide nonstop service from Miami Florida (MIA) to South Caicos Turks & Caicos Islands.  AA will be the only US airline to fly into South Caicos.

This will be the second destination in the TCI for the American airline.  Regular flights into Providenciales commenced 30 years ago and now, starting in February 2025, they are adding a second international route to ‘the big south’.  Two flights per week are currently scheduled, one on Wednesday and the other Saturday.  The schedule announces flight departure in Miami at 10 am, arriving in South Caicos at 12:30pm.  Return flights depart South Caicos at 1:45pm, arriving in Miami at 3:55pm.

South Caicos is one of the smaller islands in the TCI but rich in history.  Cockburn Harbor was once the commercial hub in the Turks & Caicos.  Named in 1840 after the official visit by the then Governor of the Bahamas, Sir Francis Cockburn.  Queen Elizabeth visited the small Caribbean Island during her visit in 1966.

The School for Field Studies, an international environmental research and conservation field school, has a campus on South Caicos.  Students attend various programs that run from one month to a full semester, the courses are globally recognized for university and college students.  The school has operated on South Caicos for more than 30 years.

With the opening of Salterra Resort and Spa on South Caicos scheduled for early 2025 the timing could not be better.  Watch for flight information to be released at AA.com – we look forward to meeting you in South Caicos !!
